Twisted tongues
From the time you’re very young,
people try to twist your tongue.
“Say this sentence five times, fast.
Try it… But you’ll never last.”
And though your mouth will trip and fall,
the stories make no sense at all.
Someone - can you make things clear,
about these twisted tales I hear?
For instance…
Selling seashells by the shore…
A place where there are SHELLS GALORE!
A woodchuck chucking wood? Come on!
He can’t… So can we just move on?
And pickled peppers from the ground?
A magic garden Peter’s found.
No vinegar, or salt, or spice.
Just grab them off the vine, how nice!
And this one spins my head a bit;
You’re sitting on the sheet you slit.
Like I’m supposed to feel your pain?
YOU slit the sheet, so don’t complain!!!
Or fix the sheet the way it was,
Shy Sally sews sheets… It’s what she does.
And Betty Botter’s Bitter meal.
Go get new butter… No big deal!
Stew chews shoes. What a dunce!
And WHY SAY TOY BOAT MORE THAN ONCE???
Sorry…
These are things that cause my plight.
It’s my rite to write them…
Right?
"Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all those incredible things."
~ Tom Petty
"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything."
~ Plato
