Never Say Never

‘Never say never’, was my father’s advice.
But saying ‘never say never’, you say ‘never’ twice.
Even if you say, ‘don’t say never, ever’…
You can’t get around it, you’re still saying ‘never’.
And, why should you never… I mean, why should you not?
There are things I would never - not do a lot.

I would never bite a dog,
or lick a frog that’s on a log.
I wouldn’t swim in tomato paste,
or paint a starfish on my face.
I’ll never ride a bike to Mars.
(Well, there’s no air, and it’s pretty far).
I’ll never fly without a plane,
And never, EVER kiss my neighbor, Jane…

Yuck!

To never say never is hard, to be sure.
Or is not saying it harder? I don’t know anymore.
I think I’ll just stick with, ‘I will’, or ‘I might’,
Because if not ‘never’, then hey, you may - Right?
Plus, to never, not ever, say never again,
Is to not… No, is not to ever…
        Wait – it’s that you won’t…
No, hold on, I got it…
                                   You’ll never, not ever… ummm…

Aww, never mind…
